I have a couple of points to share about this weeks JOTT. Firstly the colour is off. The tiles are a terracotta not a wine colour, but this was the pen I had at hand.
Secondly this weeks post contains a group rather than a single object. When I was emptying my mums house I had a fantasy of drawing every object in there first, but it was too overwhelming and certainly not enjoyable. I do love drawing collections of objects though and this week’s JOTT feels like a good place to indulge.
Bath objects:
Cork book stand. I prop my kindle on it so I can keep reading even when I’m submerged.
An alabaster pot that our elderly neighbours brought us back from a holiday. I put a candle in it and if I’m in the bath in the dark it casts a soft apricot glow.
I don’t know what this plant is but it seems happy enough to be bathside. I like to look at house plants but I’m utterly hopeless at caring for them. I probably need an app.
I bought this jar in a discount home-store but it’s pressed to look like cut glass and despite it’s cheapness it is very pleasing to look at and it holds the bath salts.
I’m a sucker for bubbles. These are from Neal’s Yard Remedies. I’m trying bit by bit to remove products that are overly toxic to me or the environment (I downloaded Yuka and you can’t unsee the info once you’ve scanned a product!), and so each time I get to replace something that has run out with something new is a bit of a celebration.
This back brush is wooden and was a ‘new bath’ present from a friend.
Natasha got this little blue tooth speaker so we can listen to podcasts and stream music in the bath.
A textured flannel. I love textiles and textured textiles win the prize.
i love this. yes, the bath is such a sacred space, and i love seeing the collection of meaningful assembled artifacts that support your bathtime experiences. and may i just say - terracotta is one of the best hues in the universe. :)
thank you for sharing a glimpse into what nourishes you.
