14th March 2025
This week my body was weary. I think that’s okay; I’d had a really busy couple of months with work, a busy and stressful couple of years with my mum and her Alzheimers and I am, a menopausal 53 year old. What is less okay to me is the realisation that my body is protesting, getting less flexible and more achy with each passing season.
For someone who never found an exercise groove this is no easy fix, but I found a local class called Kind Yoga and booked myself in for 5 sessions (I need the financial commitment to make me go). I nervously pulled my dusty yoga mat from the back of the coat cupboard.
The class was, thankfully, kind in more than just name. We twisted and stretched and relaxed into our breath. The blanket cushioned my sore wrists and the bolster was perfect for draping myself across.
For about an hour after I’m sure I was even a bit taller.
I’m looking forward to the next one already.
