Last week I got gloriously messy at a creative workshop ( if you’re curious it was 3 hours of painting and printing on fabric) with my friend Joy. I met Joy about 12 years ago; I was in my 40s and in a period of creative loneliness. Unbeknownst to me Joy was also feeling lonely working at home.
When we met (an interview for a blog) the idea was floated that we could perhaps meet up again…work on our own projects, but in shared company?
It is scary to admit loneliness, to risk rejection, but we were brave. We met again the next week and the next. We’ve been friends ever since.
Last week’s workshop was run by Eloise Renouf and it wasn’t lost on me that I met Eloise because me and my then new friend Joy went on to invite 4 other creative women who we didn’t know out to lunch, they said yes. One of them was Eloise.
Friends grow from such small brave acts.

I'll never forget that first meeting, feeling so at ease in your company - we just simply 'clicked' and the rest is history. I feel very lucky to have you in my life and always cherish the time we spend together which is never enough. Making friends as a grown up is fabulous :-)
